PayPal is becoming the most popular payment processing option. Most of the users prefer PayPal over other online money transferring mechanisms keeping in mind its safety and simplicity. On the other hand WordPress is also gaining the award for being the most used blogging platform that is being shared by millions of users. Well most of the websites out in online world must need to go through some financial transactions being selling some products, services or for donation. So the webmasters need to have money transferring mechanism implemented on their websites like PayPal. This tutorial will explain the step by step procedure to add PayPal Button on your WordPress website to ease out your ecommerce operations.
Stepwise Procedure to Add PayPal Button
1. Login into your PayPal Account or Register New if don’t have one.
You must have a PayPal account in prior. If you have one then login into it or register for a new Business or Premier one by going to the “Sign-Up” option onto the homepage of PayPal.com. After registering for new one you have to link it to your bank account so as to make transactions to your own bank account.
2. Go to “Create Payment Buttons for your website” option under “Merchant Services” Tab on Your PayPal Account Menu
Now you have to navigate to the “Merchant Services” Tab on your PayPal dashboard and look for “Create payment buttons for your website” there. There you will see options for different type of PayPal buttons like “Donations”, “Add to Cart”, “Buy Now” etc. Choose the type of the option fitting best to your needs.
3. Submit Organization name and optional Donation ID (if it’s a donation button)
After entering organization name and donation ID (for donation button only) you need to enter other details that applies to your button type like item details, price etc.
4. Customizing the Button
Now you can choose to customize your PayPal button by selecting the check boxes for displaying the text, drop-down menu, cost options etc. You can see side by side how your button is going to be displayed to the customers. You can also customize the text on the button and its appearance as well.
5. Select Currency, Shipping options etc.
Next if you have to choose for the currency, shipping options taxes etc. if applicable to the type of button you are creating.
6. Saving the Customized button
Now when you are done with all these steps, you have to simply save you button to your account. You can even customize it again.
7. Choosing the Code types
When you will click on “Create Button” tab present at the page-bottom, you will be asked to choose between two options – HTML code or Email HTML code. Well I would suggest you choosing “Email” Tab as it works perfectly with WordPress. Keep the tab opened for later usage.
8. Login to Your WordPress Website Panel
Now login to your WordPress website panel in a new tab and go to your website account there.
9. Add a new Page or Post
Next you have to click on one of “Add New Page” or “Add New Post” option. Select the “HTML View” from the editor when you encounter the “Edit Page” or “Edit Post” screen as you have to insert the PayPal code in the HTML code on WordPress editor.
10. Open the WordPress Support Page for PayPal to select the type of PayPal button
Next you have to open the WordPress Support Page for PayPal to find the different buttons and their corresponding HTML codes. Copy the desired buttons HTML code and insert it into the HTML editor of WordPress that we were talking in previous step. Also you can replace the URL address in that particular HTML code line with the URL address of the PayPal email-HTML code mentioned in step 7.
11. Check the Visual Editor to see the appearance of you button
Now you have to switch to the visual editor mode on the WordPress edit post or edit page from HTML mode to see the how your button looks like.
12. Copying the Email HTML code from PayPal page
Now you have to go back to the PayPal page to copy the email HTML code for your created button on PayPal as is mentioned in step 7.
13. Publishing the Button
Now click on the “Link” option in the WordPress formatting toolbar. After clicking this icon a dialogue box will open where you have to insert the PayPal email link under the field “Link URL”. Now click on “Insert” and finally publish this WordPress page or post to the site.
